Disney's Monstrous Summer-24 hour all night event!

In case any of you missed it, the Magic Kingdom in both WDW and Disneyland had a 24 hour event to kick of their "Monstrous Summer." I don't know about any of you, but I saw many photos and videos that made me jealous I was not there for the event! Here are some of the awesome pictures:

Some Monstrous Munchies! (Original Photography by Walt Disney World)
More Munchies! (Photography by WDW)
Mike and Sully kicked off the event--Mickey and Minnie were also there earlier in their pajamas! Fireworks went off at 6 am! (Photo: WDW)
There are many more pictures I could post, especially more treats to add like Mike Cake Pops and Mike's special drink (the drinks had light up ice cubes in them). I loved seeing everyone's photos on Instagram--especially the early morning pictures and most of the characters in their pajamas.

The only not so great thing about the event? I heard a lot of DCP people were working 12-16 hour shifts because it was a 24 hour event! Crazy times, but when you work at Disney you have to be prepared for anything!

Monstrous summer will be a WDW and Disneyland all summer to promote the new Monster's University in theaters June 21st! Be sure to check out all the fun on Disney parks blog here:

It's been a while...

I haven't written anything in a few weeks due to finals week and moving back home and then taking a week to settle back in. But I'm back and more excited than ever to be going to Disney in August! It's been awesome to see some of the fall advantage people move into their dorms to see how our routine will be once we all get down there.

I know that before I go I want to work on my fitness so I can stand the 90 degree weather with 100% humidity, as well as, I have an online course to complete! Also I want to spend as much time with my loved ones of course!

On an exciting side note, Disney released the numbers from the fall advantage and fall program: 30,009 people applied for the Disney College Program and 2,400 were accepted. Seeing those numbers make me feel even more grateful for this opportunity and the future!

It was odd saying goodbye to Hofstra for 8 months. I'll miss my friends, fall fest, and other fun activities going on but will I miss the school? Not particularly, but then again...I will be living in the happiest place in the world so I guess that makes sense!

My next couple of posts will discuss some of the awesome activities going on at Walt Disney World currently, my potential vacation(s), my bucket list, some more Disney challenges (perhaps), and other miscellaneous items.

Only 78 days left to go!!!

100 Days

That's right, it's 100 days until I move into the Disney College Program apartments with my new roommates! And it's 99 days until I leave Rochester for the beautiful and sunny Orlando! I am so excited for all the adventures ahead.

I forgot to mention the other day that I am all registered for the Disney College Program and my independent study online! It's actually really cool because it says DCP three times next to  my classes for next semester! haha it's so nice seeing that rather than 'geology' or 'marketing.'

Speaking of marketing, I have to write a 15 page paper for that class...currently I'm at 9 pages and I think I'm writing too much, but I guess it's better to go back and delete pages rather than try and ramble and add more. And finals week is slowly approaching. The last day of classes is Wednesday and then I have a week and a half to go through finals--unfortunately I have a final on the very last day at 8 am--after the Paramore show--ew no!

I also forgot to say HAPPY MAY! Or because it's today..."May the 4th be with you!" This semester has gone by pretty quickly, definitely compared to the last one (even though I think the last one might have been just a tad more fun).

And as my final news: I got to meet one of my roommates for the DCP in Times Square! She's from Boston and my school is in Long Island so we commuted and met up! It was a fun day even though I dragged her through subway after subway (sorry)! Anyway, here's a picture of us with "sketchy" minnie mouse in times square. She told me to fu** off because I didn't tip her...Minnie you look extra ratchet I'm not gunna tip you for staring at a camera. Like SHUSH. But seeing her was so much fun and made me look forward to the program even more because she's so nice and funny (my roommate, not Minnie lol)

Hopefully the first of many character pictures with this girl!

In the future I'll do a post about all of my roommates and perhaps I'll even add a bucket list! But for now it's Music Fest at my school and I'm going to go watch Third Eye Blind and a bunch of other random bands (hey, it's the epitome of 90s music--I've got to go right?).

See you all later!

Disney Challenge Day 30

My Favorite Theme Park Show: The Electrical Parade

Honestly, this is the only show I can remember seeing. That's why I'm so excited to be doing the Disney College Program--so I can witness most of the shows. I know I'm excited about seeing wishes, Fantasmic again (I haven't see it since I was 7 so I don't remember anything), the Indiana Jones show (never seen it), and the electrical parade, which I saw from afar one time. I'm not that knowledgeable about the shows, but I'm definitely excited to see it! Check this photo out from "TheTimeTheSpace" on flickr: (I definitely want to try something like this)

Check out more pictures from "TheTimeTheSpace" here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thetimethespace/

Well that's it! The end of my 30 days Disney Challenge. For the next couple of weeks I might not be blogging as much because it's finals time at college, and I have far too many papers to write. My next post will probably be about meeting one of my roommates from the program in NYC! She's "wicked nice" and we took a pretty funny picture, so until then Disney fans--I'll see ya on the flip side!

Disney Challenge Day 29

My Favorite Theme Park Attraction: The Indiana Jones Ride or Rockin' Roller coaster

The Indiana Jones Ride! Picture from Tours Departing Daily

When it comes to Disneyland, nothing thrills me more than waiting in a 2 and a half hour line to ride the Indiana Jones attraction. Just kidding, but I really do love this ride. When I was a little girl I was too afraid to go on it because my dad told me there were snakes on it, and lets just say one of my biggest fears are those scaled creatures with fangs. I would watch as my entire family would go off together while my grandma got me some churros to munch on. Then finally when I revisited the park when I was older I thought, "fine I can do this, snakes? No biggie." And I'm glad I took my advice. I love this ride because you're in a big jeep and one person drives it. The fun part is that everyone blames the driver for the bumpy ride, and the first time I rode it I was the driver. As you continue on into a strange temple you find danger at every turn. From snakes, to bugs (this part was actually scarier to me than the big fake cobra), fire, and a pretty huge boulder-- you help Indie find his way. I love the theme song of this movie played throughout and I can still hear my dad laughing and yelling "ow!" when the bugs blew air on us. Great ride.

Another ride that I love but have only ridden once is Rockin' Roller Coaster. I obviously love it for Aerosmith and the old rock and roll feel, but also because it's fast and furious. When the ride first starts you shoot off like a bullet, going from 0-70mph in seconds. From then on there are twists and curves and some pretty awesome music. It reminds me a lot of Space Mountain which unfortunately adopted the loud music. Space Mountain shouldn't have rock music--it should have mystical music! Get on it Disney! Anyway, I can't wait to go on this ride more in 110 days!

I love all the parks, but this one will always be the most special. I grew up going to Disneyland with my parents and my twin brother and it's always been the most special. To my brother's favorite: Star Tours, to my favorite: Indiana Jones, to my dad's favorite: Pirates of the Caribbean, to my mom's favorite: Space Mountain (? I think this is her favorite--maybe she'll see this and correct me), we love Disneyland. Of course I just realized all of our favorite rides are either in tomorrow land or adventure land, but we also love fantasy land and everything in between. From the Electrical Parade, to the "scary" Haunted Mansion, to the storybook ride--Disneyland is the place that I thought was a dream when I was younger. Of course, I still like Walt Disney World, I've just experienced it less so I know less about it. I do know that at Disneyland I feel like I'm walking into the original park. There are even apartments around the park that Walt stayed in (one of Main Street U.S.A above the fire department and one above the Pirates of the Caribbean in New Orleans Square) with his family! And there's a special train that Walt made for his wife that makes a rare appearance for special guests. Not to mention the Blue Bayou (which I still need to eat at--I've never been!) in the Pirates ride. But who knows maybe my opinion will change in 111 days when my journey as a cast member begins! I'm so excited for what the future will hold and exploring all the parks, downtown Disney, and the resorts!

Disney Challenge Day 27

My Favorite Quote: Winnie the Pooh, said by Christopher Robin

I actually wrote this quote earlier on my blog, but here it is again:

“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you.”

For some reason this quote sticks with me and means a lot to me. Basically if I ever wanted to be extremely romantic or to show everything I feel for a person this would be what I would want to say. I know in the movie they're friends talking to each other, but for me, this is romantic in every sense of the word. I like to think I have a "way with words," but when words fail me this works better.
