That's right, in January I will be heading back down to good ole' Florida for some more Disney adventures! But this time I'll be doing some PR for the mouse (and in an air conditioned office--WOOT!)
I haven't blogged in a while, but hey, it's been a busy second half of the year! I've moved around quite a bit from Florida to New York to California and eventually back to New York. It's crazy how many states I've had the chance to live in recently and I'm extremely grateful. I've grown more than I ever thought possible since the last time I posted (March 2014) and I'm excited for the new beginnings and adventures that wait.
While this semester has had both it's ups and downs--it's taught me more about how to handle stress, a large work load, and what the real world actually entails. While preparing for my future and balancing school and internship work, I found myself feeling constrained and definitely played this scene with my roommate many times (I'm the beast):
and this was a regular occurrence in our room:
Because why go out when you can stay in? As we always say "Turn up? Nah man, turn of that light because it's BRIGHT AS HECK!"
I definitely found myself wanting to go to bed at 8 every night, instead of staying up late and hanging out. But I also learned that it's okay to take a breather and have some fun--sometimes too much fun. I mean, this is my last semester of college (when did I get here?!). While many mistakes can be made with that mentality, it also brought me closer to the person I see myself becoming. After all, mistakes help shape us, even if it hurts getting there... and even if my Sunday mornings often looked liked this:
Having people around who supported me, a kick ass roommate who listened to all my crap (Evon you are THE BEST--don't know how I would have gotten through this semester without you), and the greatest friends a girl could ask for helped me through it. I've even realized while alone time can be, well, lonely, it's needed.
So I've officially turned my TOMS and hoodies in for flats and blazers--who would have thought? I miss those damn shoes though...anyway what I'm trying to say is that if 6 months ago you would have told me not only would I be moving to Florida, but that I would once again be working for the Walt Disney Company I probably would have laughed in your face. But here we are and here I go to the land of humidity and WAY too many lizards. Hopefully graduating college won't mean this though (well not completely):
Sorry for this extremely sappy post, but I'm feeling more and more sappy as December 21st and my imminent graduation approaches. I'll try and update this a bit more and hopefully keep it going as I move to Florida. As for now, I go home tomorrow (Rochester) to gorge on pie and mashed potatoes and squeeze my dog tight. Maybe even throw in a band practice or two with some knuckle heads that I know.
Have a great Thanksgiving guys--I know I have a lot to be thankful for.
To everyone in my life, thank you for everything and always know...

The End of My College Program
"Remy
from Ratatouille once
said, “The only thing predictable about life is its unpredictability.” This
quote describes my time on the Disney College Program perfectly because I would
have never predicted that I would be working for Disney, that I would have made so
many lifelong friends, that I would learn so much about myself, and how much
fun it would be living on Disney property. All those things being said, I also
had no way to predict the amount of hours I would be working, how tired I would
be, all the stress I would have, and the homesickness I would feel. The Disney
College Program is definitely a learning experience, both professionally and
personally. I’m so grateful I was able to do this internship because without it,
I wouldn’t have grown into the person I see myself becoming in the future. " -Introduction paragraph to my reflection paper
I can't believe the program is over, and I will admit, I did a horrible job keeping this blog going. But when you work long weeks, days off become a time for hanging out with friends and taking advantage of the short time you live at WDW.
Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to get this blog back up and running, telling as many stories as I can remember and sharing my experience. That being said, if there is anything anyone wants to hear about, let me know and I'll write about it!
For now I'll leave you all with the final paragraph of my 25 page reflection paper I had to do for my school. I think it says a lot about my program and what I thought about it:
"With only two semesters left at Hofstra, I'm excited for the future, but I'm also excited for the next memories I get to make while still in school. I'll have work to do for the rest of my life, so for now I need to enjoy the moments right in front of me. Will I ever work for Disney again? Maybe in the corporate side, but for now more learning is in store. The way I will always remember my Disney College Program is a group of my friends surrounding the dining room table, playing card games, keeping each other company during the holidays. The smiles on our faces, the second family we all came to love, and the hope we all had for the future. While I miss everyone and everything at Disney dearly, I know this isn't goodbye, it's "see you real soon."

Training and Work
Sorry it's been a while, with work, schoolwork, and social time there is less time to surf the Internet and update this blog. People aren't kidding when they say it's difficult to keep up blogging while on the program. But alas here I am, sick and in bed, finally having some time to update you all on my DCP experience.
In this blog I'll be talking about work. Okay here goes:
I am a 'park greeter' at Epcot Main Entrance and International Gateway (Epcot has two entrances). I had a really cool trainer who made me and my friend Steph feel welcome and it was a fun three days of learning the ins and outs of being a park greeter. My main job is running the new 'V's,' which was once called the turnstiles. Basically they're these orb looking things with a Mickey on one side. You then hold your card, magic band, etc. up to the Mickey and if the light turns green you're good to go; if blue, redo it!
There are other tasks I could be doing while working, but most include guest interactions which is probably the best part of my job. Working an exit really allows for interactions with guests, whether that be if they're asking a question about where the 'best place to watch illuminations is,' or 'what is the Disney College Program?' My favorite guest interaction was with a couple who had a date at Epcot while Grandma and Grandpa were watching their children back at the resort. They came up to me asking where the nearest bathrooms were and then noticed my name was Hailey. They then continued to tell me how if they had a daughter they were going to name her Hailey, but instead they were destined to have all boys. As the conversation came to a close the mother came up to me, gave me a big hug, and said "here's a hug for the Hailey I never had." It made my night.
My coworkers are all
awesome and working in Epcot, you definitely meet people from all over the world. I've already met people from Japan, Australia, and if you can believe it Wisconsin (just a little humor going out to one of my coworkers).
If you have any questions feel free to leave them below!! Food and Wine Fest starts this week so I'm sure I'll have more stories to tell. Also this Tuesday I'm going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party so I'll be sure to do a post on that. As for now, I'm off to rest up and feel better!
Adios--
Oh yeah, and I'm definitely bringing the mirror selfie back over there lol

Days leading up to Traditions and Traditions
Before we went to traditions and got our main entrance passes, we basically rode the monorail for hours, looking at the Disney Resorts. We went past Epcot to see it as it was closing, visited the Grand Floridian, The Polynesian, and the Contemporary. So far out of the three, The Grand Floridian is my favorite. It's super nice and fancy, not to mention it reminds me of the Hotel Del in Coronado. Here is a few pictures from the shenanigans that took place:
The floor of the Grand Floridian is covered in tile that has hidden Mickey's and other Disney characters. Here is a picture of my roommate Mercade with the Cinderella tile!
This is a picture of the carpet in the Grand Floridian. I know it seems as though I have an obsession with floors or something, but honestly the little details in the carpet and tile are ridiculous.
Then we decided to head to the Contemporary to watch wishes from a "secret" part of the resort. No one really knows about a balcony at the Contemporary where you can watch wishes from, so we got a really good view from not too far away. Here are a few pictures of us watching the show:
This is me and my roommate Michelle waiting for the fireworks to start!
Michelle and Mercade waiting for the fireworks!
The first night we got there we went to the Polynesian to watch Wishes (hey--it's free right? Might as well try to see it a lot) and get dole whips for the first time! I like Dole Whips, but I think that it was over hyped somehow. It wasn't earth shattering good, but it was good. I actually prefer the orange flavor to the pineapple original!
So now that I've discussed the fun we had before we got our main entrance passes, let me quickly mention Traditions. There's not much I can say about it, except when everyone tells you to wear comfortable shoes, they mean it. Leave those 6 inch stilettos at home because a few hours later you will be feeling it. Also if you have an early session of Traditions, get a good amount of sleep because several people in my class we're nodding off at first. I know it's exciting to be at Disney with new roommates, but perhaps instead of going to bed at 2 am (like I did) when Traditions was at 6 am go to bed at say...midnight. Even that would be better! There a lot of surprises and awesome things about Traditions that I cannot mention, but just know it's fun and you'll meet some awesome people.
Well I'm off--I work tonight from 4pm-10pm. So I'm going to relax and get ready. The next post will probably be about training, my assessment, and work overall.

Check in day!
I've been in Florida for over a week now and I'm just now getting to this blog post. I'm sorry about that, I've just been busy with work type things and of course the fun stuff like going to the parks everyday. It's true, I've been to the parks every day that I've been here after Traditions! It's fun to go to the parks with friends who have never been to WDW or haven't been in years because their faces on the rides are priceless and hysterical.
But anyway this blog post is to fill you in on check in day!
Since Disney decided to change their dorms system and put everything online, my check in day was different than those seen on YouTube. Instead of waking up and being at Vista at 3-4 in the morning to get a good apartment, ours was already chosen for us so we decided to get to Vista around 7:45 am. Disney stated to not come to Vista before 8 or after 10, but honestly we could have gone sooner because the line was already ridiculously long by the time we got there. We waited in line for a while (it wouldn't be Disney without long lines) and then finally got up to the desks to hand cast members our DORMS paper work that we filled out online 10 days prior to our arrival. Then they gave us a program guide and sent up to the next room which was...air conditioned! Until I arrived in Florida in August I had never really understood the beautiful thing called air conditioning. Anyway, in the next room we were told where we were living and who we were living with. We got a 3 bedroom in Patterson Court which means...two more roommates! Their names are Lily and Iris and they are both from South Korea doing the ICP (International College Program). They are both very sweet, and I can't wait to get to know them more (they started working first so we haven't had much time to talk)!
The next thing we did in the air conditioned room was take our ID picture. I was hopeful it would turn out good, but they widened everyone's face so my head looks like it is about to pop. Then we got our room key and headed back out side (ugh).
Once outside we waited in line some more and then we were separated by last names. At this point we found out specifically where we would be working (for some of us). I found out I was a park greeter in Epcot!! Even though I originally wanted Magic Kingdom, I'm now very excited that I got Epcot (I'll explain this in a different blog post about my orientation and training days).
Then onward to a drug test, filling out I-9 forms, and then finally being done with check in. We got there around 7:45 and finished around 10:15 if that helps you know how long the process is. Then because we had the largest check in group ever for the DCP (we were told that), they all split up our times of casting and traditions. I had casting the same day as check-in at 1 pm so I decided to got to our apartment, take a look around, and then leave for Casting.
I like our apartment, but I'll make a vlog for you guys so you know what a 3 bedroom in Patterson looks like later!
Casting was long as well, I got to the building around 1:30 and finished around 3:45. But it was fun, the building was amazing, and the cast members working in there were hilarious. I know my casting ladies were funny and super helpful! And both of them had worked at Epcot and they kept telling me it was their favorite place. Seeing them so excited about their jobs made me excited for my own.
After casting I bought some groceries and unpacked a little, but that night we had a reservation at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. Me and some of my roommates decided to dress up for this event. Here is a photo:
Chef Mickey's was good but in my personal opinion not worth the price. I know you meet the characters and it is a buffet, but 55 dollars for one person who is getting paid minimum wage is difficult. But the food was amazing and seeing the characters and hanging out was a nice way to start off the program.
My next blog posts will be about:
-Activities before we got our main entrance passes
-Traditions
-Park fun
-Orientation/training
I hope you all enjoyed this blog post--more will come soon because I have two days off before my training starts up.
I hope you all have a magical day!

The time has come the walrus said...tomorrow I fly to Orlando!
Tomorrow I am flying to Orlando to move into my apartment in Lake Buena Vista on Monday! I can't believe the time is here and soon I will be an official Disney Cast Member. I remember when I was first applying for the Disney College Program and thinking, "I really hope I get accepted," and then before I knew it, I was and there was 150 days until my program began. Now it's here and it still doesn't feel real. I don't think it will until I see all my roommates and we watch the fireworks at the Polynesian eating dole whips on Sunday!
To say I am excited is an understatement. I know this will be a great experience and I can't wait to be down there meeting new people, making new friends, and living at the happiest place on Earth. With that being said, today I was also thinking about the fall semester I will be missing at Hofstra. I am really going to miss all my friends, the shenanigans we get into, the fall spirit around campus, and FALL FEST! Fall semester is so much fun and filled with all different activities on and around campus. I'm going to miss my friends in ESTAHOOD (the ones still living there--I know some moved to different towers like Vander Poel and Alliance etc.)! Party it up for me and keep in touch! I will probably bug you about everything anyway when I'm missing you all.
To everyone; friends and family; I will miss you and hopefully we can stay connected through this blog and other social media! Have a great semester, fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas/other December holidays, and New Year! See you guys in 2014<3
As for my roommates and all the other DCPers: See you soon! Lets work hard, make the best memories, and enjoy Disney!
Here is a picture that I think will become true. I will randomly burst into Disney songs while living in Lake Buena Vista!!
And so the journey begins: the time has come the walrus said to talk of Disney things!

1 month until move in so meet my roomies...
Hey all!
So today marks exactly 1 month until I'm moving into my apartment in Lake Buena Vista Florida with all the other DCPers including my roommates. Since it's 1 month and I feel in the spirit I thought I would write a post about my three roomies, since they will be part of my journey!
My roommate is: Amber!
Amber is from Massachusetts and says wicked ALL the time. Don't worry Amber, I like it! :) She is also extremely outgoing, encouraging, and sweet. I can already tell that me and her will be getting along so well in Florida, and we will definitely become good friends. I met her in April or May (I forget which month) in NYC and it made me even more excited to be sharing a room with her. She loves Finding Nemo and Tangled and Cinderella because she's thirsty ;)--just kidding Amber! If I had to pick a Disney character that she reminds me of it is Minnie Mouse. Mainly because she's sweet and encouraging. Also, she's definitely a "lady," just like miss Minnie. But she also reminds me of Rapunzel because she plans and dreams, is quirky and cute, and is definitely looking for adventure!

Mercade is from Georgia and she is a southern belle. Mainly because she says ya'll all the time and is very generous and genuine. Mercade and I are already so much alike. I know this because we like ALL the same TV shows and movies--but seriously we do. Supernatural, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings...just saying, we're going to instantly become friends. Not to mention SHE'S HILARIOUS. She loves Alice in Wonderland and I even think she looks a bit like her! If I had to pick a Disney character that she reminds me of it is Bashful at first because she is shy, but then Terk from Tarzan because she knows how to make a joke. Not to mention I think we might pull some pretty awesome pranks on someone cough*cough* Amber ;)

As you can see, because we're all from different parts of the country we're bringing different perspectives to our apartment. I couldn't be more excited to get to know all of them even more in the days that follow!
Cheers to only a month left! See you soon Walt Disney World!

Mercade is from Georgia and she is a southern belle. Mainly because she says ya'll all the time and is very generous and genuine. Mercade and I are already so much alike. Michelle is from California and she is a free spirit, or at least that's what I've gotten by following her on Tumblr! She is very passionate about social values and is extremely intelligent. Is it weird that I can tell this just from someone's Tumblr? I hope not. Anyway, she is a huge Disney fan just like myself. So much so that she has season passes to Disneyland! Can you say jealous? I have a feeling when we get down to Disney her and I will be the two that find all the secret places at the parks and DTD. Michelle has the same favorite color as me (purple) and the same favorite Disney Princess as me (Princess Tiana). If I had to pick a Disney character that reminds me of her it is Pocahontas because of her love for all things and her free spirit. She also reminds me of Princess Tiana because she's very passionate and excited about her dreams!

As you can see, because we're all from different parts of the country we're bringing different perspectives to our apartment. I couldn't be more excited to get to know all of them even more in the days that follow!
Cheers to only a month left! See you soon Walt Disney World!

My Bucket List
I know I've been promising this post for quite a while and I finally got around to putting together my ideas! I probably missed some things, but I think I got most of what I want to do during the DCP. My roomies and I have a list of all the things we want to do together and most of it is filled with inside jokes, but I did take a few ideas from there to make my personal bucket list. So without further ado here is my bucket list for fall 2013!:

I definitely don't want to sit in my room every day that I have off--I want to try and go to the parks as much as possible and not let these five months slip away from me. I have a suspicious feeling this program will be one of the best experiences of my life--less than 50 days to go!

Disney's Monstrous Summer-24 hour all night event!
In case any of you missed it, the Magic Kingdom in both WDW and Disneyland had a 24 hour event to kick of their "Monstrous Summer." I don't know about any of you, but I saw many photos and videos that made me jealous I was not there for the event! Here are some of the awesome pictures:
There are many more pictures I could post, especially more treats to add like Mike Cake Pops and Mike's special drink (the drinks had light up ice cubes in them). I loved seeing everyone's photos on Instagram--especially the early morning pictures and most of the characters in their pajamas.
The only not so great thing about the event? I heard a lot of DCP people were working 12-16 hour shifts because it was a 24 hour event! Crazy times, but when you work at Disney you have to be prepared for anything!
Monstrous summer will be a WDW and Disneyland all summer to promote the new Monster's University in theaters June 21st! Be sure to check out all the fun on Disney parks blog here:

It's been a while...
I haven't written anything in a few weeks due to finals week and moving back home and then taking a week to settle back in. But I'm back and more excited than ever to be going to Disney in August! It's been awesome to see some of the fall advantage people move into their dorms to see how our routine will be once we all get down there.
I know that before I go I want to work on my fitness so I can stand the 90 degree weather with 100% humidity, as well as, I have an online course to complete! Also I want to spend as much time with my loved ones of course!
On an exciting side note, Disney released the numbers from the fall advantage and fall program: 30,009 people applied for the Disney College Program and 2,400 were accepted. Seeing those numbers make me feel even more grateful for this opportunity and the future!
It was odd saying goodbye to Hofstra for 8 months. I'll miss my friends, fall fest, and other fun activities going on but will I miss the school? Not particularly, but then again...I will be living in the happiest place in the world so I guess that makes sense!
My next couple of posts will discuss some of the awesome activities going on at Walt Disney World currently, my potential vacation(s), my bucket list, some more Disney challenges (perhaps), and other miscellaneous items.
Only 78 days left to go!!!

100 Days
That's right, it's 100 days until I move into the Disney College Program apartments with my new roommates! And it's 99 days until I leave Rochester for the beautiful and sunny Orlando! I am so excited for all the adventures ahead.
I forgot to mention the other day that I am all registered for the Disney College Program and my independent study online! It's actually really cool because it says DCP three times next to my classes for next semester! haha it's so nice seeing that rather than 'geology' or 'marketing.'
Speaking of marketing, I have to write a 15 page paper for that class...currently I'm at 9 pages and I think I'm writing too much, but I guess it's better to go back and delete pages rather than try and ramble and add more. And finals week is slowly approaching. The last day of classes is Wednesday and then I have a week and a half to go through finals--unfortunately I have a final on the very last day at 8 am--after the Paramore show--ew no!
I also forgot to say HAPPY MAY! Or because it's today..."May the 4th be with you!" This semester has gone by pretty quickly, definitely compared to the last one (even though I think the last one might have been just a tad more fun).
And as my final news: I got to meet one of my roommates for the DCP in Times Square! She's from Boston and my school is in Long Island so we commuted and met up! It was a fun day even though I dragged her through subway after subway (sorry)! Anyway, here's a picture of us with "sketchy" minnie mouse in times square. She told me to fu** off because I didn't tip her...Minnie you look extra ratchet I'm not gunna tip you for staring at a camera. Like SHUSH. But seeing her was so much fun and made me look forward to the program even more because she's so nice and funny (my roommate, not Minnie lol)!
In the future I'll do a post about all of my roommates and perhaps I'll even add a bucket list! But for now it's Music Fest at my school and I'm going to go watch Third Eye Blind and a bunch of other random bands (hey, it's the epitome of 90s music--I've got to go right?).
See you all later!

Disney Challenge Day 30
My Favorite Theme Park Show: The Electrical Parade
Honestly, this is the only show I can remember seeing. That's why I'm so excited to be doing the Disney College Program--so I can witness most of the shows. I know I'm excited about seeing wishes, Fantasmic again (I haven't see it since I was 7 so I don't remember anything), the Indiana Jones show (never seen it), and the electrical parade, which I saw from afar one time. I'm not that knowledgeable about the shows, but I'm definitely excited to see it! Check this photo out from "TheTimeTheSpace" on flickr: (I definitely want to try something like this)

Well that's it! The end of my 30 days Disney Challenge. For the next couple of weeks I might not be blogging as much because it's finals time at college, and I have far too many papers to write. My next post will probably be about meeting one of my roommates from the program in NYC! She's "wicked nice" and we took a pretty funny picture, so until then Disney fans--I'll see ya on the flip side!

Disney Challenge Day 29
My Favorite Theme Park Attraction: The Indiana Jones Ride or Rockin' Roller coaster
![]() |
| The Indiana Jones Ride! Picture from Tours Departing Daily |
When it comes to Disneyland, nothing thrills me more than waiting in a 2 and a half hour line to ride the Indiana Jones attraction. Just kidding, but I really do love this ride. When I was a little girl I was too afraid to go on it because my dad told me there were snakes on it, and lets just say one of my biggest fears are those scaled creatures with fangs. I would watch as my entire family would go off together while my grandma got me some churros to munch on. Then finally when I revisited the park when I was older I thought, "fine I can do this, snakes? No biggie." And I'm glad I took my advice. I love this ride because you're in a big jeep and one person drives it. The fun part is that everyone blames the driver for the bumpy ride, and the first time I rode it I was the driver. As you continue on into a strange temple you find danger at every turn. From snakes, to bugs (this part was actually scarier to me than the big fake cobra), fire, and a pretty huge boulder-- you help Indie find his way. I love the theme song of this movie played throughout and I can still hear my dad laughing and yelling "ow!" when the bugs blew air on us. Great ride.
Another ride that I love but have only ridden once is Rockin' Roller Coaster. I obviously love it for Aerosmith and the old rock and roll feel, but also because it's fast and furious. When the ride first starts you shoot off like a bullet, going from 0-70mph in seconds. From then on there are twists and curves and some pretty awesome music. It reminds me a lot of Space Mountain which unfortunately adopted the loud music. Space Mountain shouldn't have rock music--it should have mystical music! Get on it Disney! Anyway, I can't wait to go on this ride more in 110 days!
